How are You doing? Like for real, I hope you’re still keeping up. I think I will be a regular here. I hope we’ll stay friends on this journey.

Today, I need you to think about how you felt when you didn’t get that “stuff” done. Have you sat to complete a task, only to find yourself engrossed in another thing or you realized you needed to pay a visit to a friend? Are you in the habit of procrastinating?. I’d like to remind you that there’s no better time than to stay in the present.

No doubt, We all fall victim to procrastination at some point. You are not alone. So take a chill pill friend!!! We’re are in this together and we’d overcome this disease. We are getting things done without shifting focus!!! Take my word for it.

Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing a task. However, procrastination hits you, there’s nothing worse than putting things off that you know you need to get done. The best way to understand this message is to imagine that you have two selves; present self and your future self. The future self can set goals but only the present self can take action. Often times, your present and future selves are always at odds with one another. Let’s have this illustration to better harness all that I’ve been trying to disseminate.

Here it is, The future self wants to be “fit and slim” but the present self wants the pizza, shawarma and of course the favorite McDonald’s delicacies. This is the gist, your brain values long term benefits when they are in the future(tomorrow) and it also values instant gratification when it comes to the present( today). Meanwhile, we all know we should eat healthy to avoid being overweight in the future.

The act of discipline and self-control cannot be overemphasized when we need to get things done as at when due. Piling of activities can sometimes overwhelm us and result in anxiety and low productivity. So, guys, procrastination is not synonymous with laziness but lack of focus. If you leave this page, make sure you get back on focus whilst you prioritize your activities and GET IT DONE!

Another thing you need to take into consideration is your energy. When are you most productive? When are you least productive?. If you’re like me, I’m most active in the morning and I get sleepy or distracted after lunch. This is why I endeavor to complete my task in the morning. You need to know yourself. You need to become aware of what really works for You to enhance your productivity to get things done rather than opting for procrastination.

Friends, I came up with a to-do list to help you get things done and you will never have a reason to procrastinate. I hope it works for you.

✔ Make a plan and stick to it.

✔Use a timer/ put up a reminder.

✔Break your task into simpler activity.

✔Prioritize.

✔Imagine your future.

✔Form a habit to do the right thing at the right time.

✔Trust God to help you keep up.

✔Forgive yourself when you don’t complete your task but ensure to complete it.

I will draw the curtain here. This is my last word for you today. Take your time to read it and let it sink into your brain. “Whenever you want to procrastinate, just remember that procrastination is like masturbation, in the end, you’re only screwing yourself”. I know you desire a good life. Don’t be caught procrastinating, it’s not fresh. Get it done today!!!

    1. Wow, this is helpful and heart touching. Truly, procrastination is an enemy of progress. Actually, it’s not always easy dealing with it but am sure the steps given above can help. I also did some of them before and it really helped
